The Caulfield Cup victory of Northerly in 2002 is regarded as one of the most popular in the race's long and storied history. Cox Plate
The Cox Plate is regarded as the Weight-for-Age Championship of Australia and is considered Australia's greatest weight-for-age race. The race is staged at Moonee Valley over 2040 metres in late October and is one of the jewels of the spring carnival. Horses three-years-old and up are eligible with traditionally only group one winners being invited to compete. The race is worth $3 million and is part of the Emirates World Series Racing Championship.

Derby Day
Derby day is Australia's richest race day and is headlined by the Victoria Derby, a 2500 metre classic for three-year-olds.
